The seasonal Whidbey Island Fair makes learning fun for the whole family. Exhibits include livestock, crops, horticulture and floriculture. A variety of handwork is also featured, from baking to quilting to art exhibits. Through these demonstrations and displays, the fair showcases the talents and abilities of the Whidbey Island region, sharing something special for all guests to enjoy in between exciting fair rides.
Langley City Hall sports peas, beans and tomatoes growing in feed troughs and along the walkway to the front door. But that’s not all, The edible garden design included whimsical sculpture, an inviting, bright bench, along with raised beds and planted plants that provide year-round interest. It is all part of the garden initiative effort to design a citywide landscape that began in 2013, inviting tourists and locals alike to take a bite out of the landscape, quite literally.
The Frick Lane History Walk is a renovated major pedestrian walk-way with five panels explaining with photos and text the early heritage of town. The Langley Main Street Association’s revitalization of Frick Lane received statewide recognition. Frick Lane’s history walk was awarded the visual impact award at the Washington Main Street’s Excellence on Main Awards Ceremony on April 25, 2017 in Ellensburg. It was held in conjunction with the state’s Preservation and Main Street Conference.
Whidbey Island is home to endless on-the-water activities, from kayaking and boating, to whale-watching and cruising. Companies offer guided tours, sailing excursions, rentals and more. Otherwise, South Whidbey Harbor at Langley is a marina with 41 slips, 330 feet of linear moorage, a boat ramp and more. It’s a short walk from Saratoga Inn.
Whidbey Island can be enjoyed thoroughly by land and sea. Downtown Langley features walkable shops, dining and entertainment, with surrounding parks and gardens to really take in the surrounding beauty. It’s also home to award-winning wineries and a world-class distillery.

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts bursts with entertainment from October to June. More than 85 performances are put on in season, with all types of art—dance, humanities, music, theater and more—celebrated.
